Our Lady of Lourdes
There is a statue of a woman that stands on a pedestal.
That statue stands out doors in all types of weather.
It can be seen from afar as it sits on U. S. land.
Many have visited the statue and and many more venerate the holy person it represents.
This lovely statue does not stand in a harbor near New York City… [though it should]…
No…
This statue stands above hallowed grounds near Mount Saint Mary’s University in Emmitsburg, Maryland.
The statue that I think of, when I pray to God for the protection of our country, represents the Blessed Virgin Mother, the daughter of the Eternal Father, the mother of the Son of God, and the spouse of the Holy Spirit.
It is her statue that looks over the Maryland country-side as ‘Our Lady of Lourdes.’
When I think of a beautiful statue in this country this is the one that comes to my mind.
For it represents my Mother, my Confidence and my Queen (Mater mea, Fiducia mea et Regina mea).
When I think of this statue I am reminded to pray for Mary’s intercession so that religious liberty will be preserved in our country…
… so that our leaders will align their wills with the will of God, and…
… so that Jesus, Mary and Joseph will bless and protect each and every one of us.
Blessed be Jesus and His Holy Name.
Blessed be His Mother and her Immaculate Conception.
Blessed be Saint Joseph and his perpetual purity.
Jesus, have mercy on us.
Dear Blessed Virgin Mother pray for us, for our judges, our politicians, our academics and our leaders.
Dear Saint Joseph, pray for us and for all those who will be voting in the upcoming elections.
Amen.
