The Apostles’ Creed       (English/Latin)

I believe in God                Credo in Deum

The Father Almighty     Patrem omnipotentem

Creator of Heaven and earth      Creatorem caeli et terrae

And in Jesus Christ,                 et in Jesum Christum,

His only Son our Lord             Filium Ejus unicum

Who was conceived by the Holy Spirit       qui conceptus est de Spiritu Sancto

Born of the Virgin Mary             natus ex maria Virgine

Suffered under Pontius Pilate           passus sub Pontio Pilato

Was crucified, died and was buried.       crucifixus, mortuus et sepultus.

He descended into hell;                  descendit ad inferos;

On the third day He was resurrected from the dead.         tertia die resurrexit a mortuis.

He ascended into Heaven          ascendit ad caelos, 

and sits at the right of God the Father Almighty; sedet ad dexteram Dei Patris omnipotentis;

From thence He shall come to judge the living and the dead. inde venturus est judicare vivos et mortuos.

I believe in the Holy Spirit, Credo in Spiritum Sanctum,

The Holy, Catholic Church, Sanctam Ecclesiam Catholicam,

The Communion of Saints, Sanctorum Communionem,

The forgiveness of sins, remissionem peccatorum,

The resurrection of the body, carnis resurrectionem,

and life everlasting. et vitam aeternam.
