On 8 December 1940, Cardinal O’Connell said:

“The Mission of Christianity is to take possession of man in his entirety in order to transform him into a soul worthy of Heaven.”

We can transform our own soul to be worthy of Heaven by always maintaining our soul in a state of sanctifying grace. And, if we should slip, we should contritely and lovingly pray the Act of Contrition and confess our sins in front of a validly ordained Catholic priest (participate in Sacramental Penance) as soon as possible, receive absolution and perform the prescribed penance and promise to do better by amending one’s life and avoiding the near temptation of sin.

Our Lord requires of every person:

  • to obey the Commandments;
  • to live in the state of grace; and
  • fulfull the duties of his/her state of life.
